ORbit helps surgical facilities track every case from scheduling through completion, providing real-time milestone tracking, automated flag detection, and data-driven performance scoring.

Who uses ORbit

OR managers

Monitor room utilization, staff assignments, and daily case flow from a live dashboard.

Facility administrators

Configure milestones, flag rules, financial targets, and user permissions for your facility.

Surgeons

View personal performance metrics, milestone comparisons, and case history.

Platform capabilities

Real-time operations

Track cases as they move through the surgical workflow. The facility dashboard shows live room status, pace tracking, and staff assignments. Patient check-in and sterile processing pages give front desk and SPD staff purpose-built views.

Milestone tracking

Define your facility’s surgical workflow using a template-based milestone system. Group milestones into phases, assign templates by procedure or surgeon, and track actual timing against expected performance.
Milestones use a cascade resolution: surgeon override takes priority, then procedure template, then facility default. This gives you facility-wide standards with surgeon-level flexibility.

Analytics suite

Six analytics views cover different aspects of your operations:
ViewWhat it measures
Surgeon analyticsMilestone intervals, case volume, timing comparisons
Financial analyticsRevenue, profit, margin trends with procedure and surgeon drill-through
Flag analyticsFlag frequency patterns, severity distribution, room and surgeon analysis
ORbit ScoreComposite efficiency score across four weighted pillars
Data qualityAutomated issue detection with review workflows
KPI dashboardConfigurable metric tracking against targets

Automated flag detection

ORbit automatically flags cases that fall outside expected thresholds. Configure rules for timing, financial metrics, and quality indicators. The flag engine runs on every completed case and surfaces patterns across your facility.

Financial tracking

Track revenue, cost, and profit at the case level. Configure cost categories, procedure pricing by payer, and monthly profit targets. Financial analytics pages provide drill-through from facility-wide trends down to individual surgeon and procedure economics.

Configuration

ORbit’s settings are organized into eight categories with 28 configuration pages. Facility administrators can customize milestones, flag rules, analytics targets, financial structures, and user permissions without developer involvement.

Architecture

ORbit is a multi-platform application:
  • Web application built with Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS
  • iOS companion app built with SwiftUI using MVVM architecture
  • Shared database on PostgreSQL via Supabase with row-level security
  • 70+ tables, 85 RPC functions, and 25 triggers
Both platforms connect to the same Supabase backend with identical RLS policies, ensuring consistent data access and security.
